What if you could hold the entire metaverse right in the palm of your hand? With SMAP, that's a reality.
SMAP is an innovative metaverse container designed to bring all web3 users and communities together, facilitating discovery, connection, creativity, and rewards. This unique metaverse container could be Earth, Mars, or even an idyllic paradise of your own design. The only limit is your imagination! Locations marked within it can be either virtual or physical, as long as they represent your ideal haven.
Born out of the ShitGPT community in July 2023 and backed by ShitDAO, ShitMap is a community-driven initiative, where every individual is invited to contribute.
SMAP is founded on the principle of democratizing power for individuals and communities, enabling discovery, connectivity, shared enjoyment, and collective creation. Above all, we believe in the importance of rewarding contributions and community engagement.
Today, the web3 community and social products face significant obstacles:
Onboarding: For newcomers and even existing crypto users, getting started is often a difficult and complex process. With many users abandoning their efforts at the preparation stage, it's a barrier to scaling web3 social products to accommodate millions of active users.
Socialization: Existing web3 social products, including lens, focus heavily on onchain social behavior and user control over social accounts, relationships, and data. While important, these aren't the core concerns for most users. The main questions for users are how to connect, build relationships, have fun, receive due rewards, and enable both virtual and physical socialization for their community.
Monetization: A healthy decentralized community should encourage creative contributions. Yet, currently, there's no aggregation space to promote high-quality creations and derivative NFTs or to facilitate their distribution and commercialization. Web3 needs a space where active, high-quality users can be discovered and their created value consumed.
Sustainability: Many current web3 social products excessively incentivize minor social actions, leading to a surplus of low-value content. This discourages genuine social users and ultimately leaves only token earners and advertising users. The challenge is to strike a balance between appropriate incentivization and long-term token sustainability.
In response to these challenges, SMAP focuses on four key pillars:
Pillar 1: Onboarding experience - Allowing all level crypto users to onboard easily using their familiar social login or wallet, and to start using SMAP within minutes.
Pillar 2: Socialization - Assisting users and communities in discovering, connecting, and having fun with each other while empowering them to build robust web3 communities.
Pillar 3: Monetization - Enabling creators and community contributors to monetize their creations and works within and beyond their communities, and giving power to businesses to reach their audiences efficiently.
Pillar 4: Sustainability - Establishing a sustainable reward mechanism, tokenomics, and token consumption strategies to balance user incentives and long-term project development.
We're immensely grateful to our early adopters within the ShitGPT community who took part in SMAP beta testing, actively engaging with the platform and marking their "soul" locations. In the first five days of testing, over 800 users logged in, with more than 450 marking their locations on SMAP. We saw an average user engagement of 4.5 times, signifying high interaction beyond mere login. With users from over 15 countries, predominantly from North America and Asia, SMAP is off to an incredible start.
The feedback received thus far has been overwhelmingly positive, with users praising SMAP as a fun and engaging way to interact with their communities. Suggestions for improvement, such as better onboarding experiences, community treasure hunts, mining incentives, and NFT community props, have also been invaluable.
To all our early supporters and contributors, thank you. It's through your backing and input that we've found a way to make web3 social media a success and bring it into the mainstream. We are excited to bring in one million active users to share in the benefits of the web3 world.
The time has come to make strides along this path, building, growing, and achieving together.
In Shit, We Trust.
